You’ll automatically be added to our Becoming a Doula email list and you’ll receive updates of upcoming workshops and other events relevant to your birth worker path.

At the training, you’ll get delicious lunches and snacks throughout, and you’ll receive a resource book of copy-able handouts and articles for use in your own doula practice.

This training is one of your biggest steps toward certification as a doula with DONA.

There are three perquisites to attending this class.

  1. You must have a good working knowledge of the basics if birth like station, dilation, effacement, stages of labor, etc. If you don’t, I suggest reading a couple basic birth books before your workshop dates.
  2. You must have watched The Business of Being Born before coming to class. This is available to rent on Amazon for $1.99.
  3. You must have watched Orgasmic Birth before attending the training. This is available to rent on Amazon for $1.99.

Non-mobile nursing babies are allowed but please be considerate of other students. Older nursing babies are allowed to visit on breaks but not during class.
*Workshop fees are non-refundable but can be put toward future trainings if you aren’t able to attend the workshop you registered for.

  1. Tara C

I took Melissa Chappell‘s Doula training a couple years ago. I am a grandmother and having had all C-sections when I was child-bearing age, it was not only informational and educational but very healing to me as a mother. Melissa has a way of endearing people to her and being able to guide them and teach them in a way that is very special. I would recommend her training to anyone who wants to be not only an educated and evidence-based Doula, but also a compassionate and caring Doula.

  2. Trista Birdzell

Melissa was an incredible instructor for my Doula training! She has so much knowledge and you can tell she has a true love and passion for what she does. She really created an incredible space for all of us to feel loved and comfortable to not only learn but to feel open to talking about our own experiences and to connect with all of the other doulas in training. I left the training every day full of excitement and gratitude for being able to be apart of her amazing training. I ended the training feeling confident in what I had learned from her in order to start my Doula career

  3. Desi M.

Taking Melissa’s class was probably one of the most empowering and uplifting things I have done for myself in my life.
I was introduced to the beauty of childbirth in every form amongst women who believed in each other’s power. Melissa does such a wonderful job of creating a safe space for women to connect, be vulnerable, and inspires us to take what we have learned and share it with the next woman we meet. Birth is so beautiful and sacred, and Melissa captures the essence of that in her training. I went into doula work feeling confident and passionate because of Melissa. I’m so grateful for my experience in her class.

  4. Catharine B. (verified owner)

Melissa has such a winning personality. She teaches clearly and is amazing at answering questions and making sure everyone understands the topic. The space we met in was lovely and the food was delicious. I have left this class with great respect for her knowledge, compassion, and love for women everywhere. I highly recommend!
